PaperIQ has today announced that it has been awarded Vodafone Certified Application status for its digital pen data capture solutions developed for the BlackBerry wireless device.

Anoto’s Digital Pen and Paper has quickly become one of the most compelling mobile technologies in the market today. It enables organisations to capture business-critical information from hand-written forms and immediately convert this into computer readable text for enterprise database systems.

PaperIQ’s award-winning solution combines Anoto’s Digital Pen and Paper technology with the powerful architecture of the BlackBerry wireless solution from RIM®. BlackBerry owners may now write notes and complete enterprise forms and have their handwriting recognised automatically using the PaperIQ BlackBerry Digital Pen application. In addition to its hosted solution, PaperIQ also offers clients the option to licence and install an in-house version of PaperIQ’s software platform which many organisations prefer in order to maintain control of their data security.

In order to achieve Vodafone Certified status, PaperIQ’s solution underwent rigorous technical evaluation by Vodafone UK. As a result, the application has passed the approval process, meeting the high standards demanded by Vodafone UK’s customer base and delivering value to the UK marketplace.

As a Certified application, PaperIQ now has access to Vodafone UK’s technical expertise and will be recommended to appropriate customers by Vodafone UK account managers. PaperIQ will be identified by the “Vodafone Certified Application” brand logo. This will allow PaperIQ to benefit from Vodafone UK’s position as the UK’s largest mobile network operator, offering its customers in-depth support and peace of mind when deploying new mobile applications.

“We are delighted that the market success of our digital pen solutions for the BlackBerry has been recognised and now endorsed by Vodafone. In addition to its renowned push email capabilities, the BlackBerry is a phenomenal platform for deploying mobile data applications and we look forward to working closely with Vodafone customers to help them mobilise key paper processes using their BlackBerry devices. PaperIQ is now uniquely the only Anoto Service Provider to be a certified partner for the UK’s two leading network carriers, Vodafone and O2 and this is a great testament to the quality of our solution”, says Robert Bakewell, Commercial Director of PaperIQ.

Nick Parbutt, head of enterprise product management, Vodafone UK said: “For many of our customers, mobile data applications, such as job scheduling, asset tracking, service reports and workforce management are a business imperative. Having experienced the business benefits that such applications deliver, these customers are now considering additional solutions to address day-to-day business requirements. PaperIQ has proven that it can address these needs and we look forward to working with its team to enable our customers to realise the efficiencies that PaperIQ’s Digital Pen application for BlackBerry delivers.”
