Digital Pen for BlackBerry is a new product from PaperIQ that integrates Digital Pen and Paper with the powerful architecture of the BlackBerry wireless solution from RIM®. BlackBerry owners may now write notes and complete enterprise forms with their handwriting recognized automatically using the PaperIQ BlackBerry Digital Pen application.

The Professional edition is aimed at the individual who would like to take meeting notes, create contacts & tasks and send emails & faxes using pen and paper.

The Enterprise edition allows corporations to deploy enterprise-wide note-taking or forms-based applications to their BlackBerry users, providing them even greater flexibility and productivity when mobile.

Professional Edition
With Easybook® M3 digital stationery from Oxford, the PaperIQ Digital Pen allows you to use pen and paper to organise your personal information, save meeting notes and send emails & faxes from your BlackBerry. You may also use the Smart Margins to specify that certain lines of your notes should be converted into contacts or tasks in your BlackBerry. The product includes an A5 rigid-covered notebook and a 12 month PaperIQ subscription that provides handwriting recognition, fax transmission and a web-based digital archive of your notes available for download as Microsoft® Word or Adobe PDF documents. The Digital Pen will also utilise your existing data allowance from your network carrier, whether you are a BlackBerry Internet Service or BlackBerry Enterprise Service subscriber.

Enterprise Edition
In addition to the note-taking functionality provided above, the Enterprise edition also allows you to deploy your organisation’s existing paper forms for use with the PaperIQ Digital Pen. You may now capture enterprise data using handwritten forms and have the recognised data pushed back to your BlackBerry for approval and further editing using a form designed with MDS Studio - the latest enterprise form design tool from RIM. The tight integration between PaperIQ Server and MDS Services allows you to not only rapidly deploy enterprise forms to your BlackBerry users, but also allow data to be captured using a format familiar to both them and your customers - pen & paper.

Organisations may implement the Enterprise Edition by either licensing PaperIQ Server or by simply subscribing to PaperIQ On Demand - our subscription model enterprise solution that allows you to rapidly deploy digital pens to your BlackBerry users with minimal capital investment and unlimited scalability.

The PaperIQ Digital Pen uses the existing Mobile Data Service connection to your organisation’s network which ensures that any written data is encrypted using the same technology already used for your email and will also take advantage of your existing data allowance from your network carrier.

Both PaperIQ Server and RIM’s MDS Services use a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) for straightforward integration with existing enterprise systems. This not only provides flexibility when integrating across disparate platforms or technologies, but also allows you to easily integrate with any existing legacy system or business process that may already be in place, further minimising investment.
